Along the Riverbank - MarcoPesaresi

This is just a small post to highlight a couple of birds that adorn our Lakes and Rivers here in the United Kingdom, first up is the Little grebe (also known as a dabchick but the word is not to be confused with this bird being a chick) they are excellent swimmers and divers, they never stay above the water for too long and as soon as they are disturbed they dive out of harms way only to reappear some distance away and then usually head towards the nearest vegetation to take cover, in these next two shots this Little grebe surfaced with its head covered in weeds which I thought looked really nice.

I’ve photographed Dippers in the past and they are wonderful birds to watch as the go whizzing up and down the River, they have a tendency to fly very low and close to the water’s surface which is a very familiar practice for Kingfishers also.
