Barn Owl Flyby - MarcoPesaresi

Its never easy photographing any bird when its against a blue sky and more often than not you tend to underexpose due to being caught off guard by raising your lens skywards, on this occasion though I was really lucky and it was all down to some very important factors, firstly the weather was perfect and the light was just right and secondly this Owl was just at the right height to capture the tops of trees in background which prevented me from underexposing.

I watched this Barn Owl for a few minutes whilst it was hunting when suddenly it turned and flew towards me, no doubt it must have heard movement in the long grass in my proximity, the Owl came in really close and then it veered of to the left, it was all over in an instant and I quickly checked the back of my camera to see what I had caught.
