First up is the Little grebe, they are excellent swimmers and divers and they never stay above the water for too long, as soon as they are disturbed they dive out of harms way only to reappear some distance away,  in these first two shots this Little grebe surfaced with its head covered in weeds.

I’ve photographed Dippers in the past and they are wonderful birds to watch as the go whizzing up and down the River, they have a tendency to fly very low and close to the water’s surface which is a very familiar practice for Kingfishers also.
